Nuffield Dept of Anaesthesia Milestones Meeting. Friday 2nd October 2026.
Join us for a special event celebrating 90 years of the Nuffield Department of Anaesthesia, founded in 1936.
This anniversary programme will feature the inaugural Departmental Lecture from Professor Bruce Biccard, the new Nuffield Professor of Anaesthetic Science, alongside talks from distinguished speakers including Professor Kevin Fong and Dr Claire Shannon.
The afternoon will also include Festschrift tributes to two distinguished Oxford anaesthetists:
Professor Andrew Farmery, marking his retirement from clinical practice
Professor Jaideep J. Pandit, celebrating 30 years since his appointment as Consultant Anaesthetist
We will also recognise the remarkable career of Professor Pierre Foex as he enters his ninth decade.
The academic programme will take place at St John’s College, Oxford, followed by a college dinner in the evening.
A rare opportunity to celebrate the past, present and future of Oxford anaesthesia with colleagues, alumni and friends of the department.
