Join us for a special celebration marking 90 years of the Nuffield Department of Anaesthetics, founded in 1936.

This anniversary event will feature the inaugural Departmental Lecture from Professor Bruce Biccard, the new Nuffield Professor of Anaesthetic Science, alongside talks from distinguished guest speakers including Professor Kevin Fong and Dr Claire Shannon, President of the Royal College of Anaesthetists. The evening will also include an after-dinner talk from Dr Muhammed Nasir, inventor of the i-gel.

The afternoon programme will include Festschrift tributes to two distinguished Oxford anaesthetists:

• Professor Andrew Farmery, marking his retirement from clinical practice

• Professor Jaideep J. Pandit, celebrating 30 years since his appointment as Consultant Anaesthetist

We will also recognise the remarkable career of Professor Pierre Foex as he enters his ninth decade.

The academic programme will take place at St John’s College, Oxford, followed by a college dinner in the evening.

This is a rare opportunity to celebrate the past, present and future of Oxford anaesthesia with colleagues, alumni and friends of the department.
